Homemade Carp and Catfish Fishing Bait Recipes For Big Fish!

I assume you want to catch more big fish like most anglers. This big powerfully revealing article will give you a taste of just how much better you can make your baits produce fish because you really can make your homemade or readymade baits far more addictive - so do yourself a big favour and read on right now because you do not know what you are missing!

OK so you use readymade carp or catfish baits and are happy enough - or are you?! It is always my belief that when fishing against established readymade baits that extremely well designed homemade baits can easily out-fish them - with intelligent fishing. This is something I and countless others have done repeatedly and this can be done by anyone as you will see!

The fact is that the readymade bait field-testers given new baits to try invariably get the very best result precisely because they are the very first to use this bait on a water. In making your own baits or adapting or manipulating readymade baits to make them different to the original versions makes them new baits - so gives you a tremendous edge over anglers still using the original versions that fish can easily get wary of very quickly after being hooked on them!

The best time to get the best results on readymade baits approximately 99 percent of the time is before the herd gets to use that readymade bait on a water. I mean if you were using baits over-flavoured with Chocolate Malt flavour like I was 25 years ago, or were using squid andronone and other extracts in your homemade baits years ago like me (made without any requirement for eggs,) then you will see that such latest creations from bait companies are far from new!

Another example is when I fished my converted Grange bait at Dream Lake 1 fishing against the son of Mainline bait boss Zenon Bojko who was using the bait called Active 8 before it was made available to the public. I will not say what I did to my version of the Mainline base mix I exploited here but I made it active in different ways and changed a few of the characteristics of the bait including the taste, aroma, flavour, shape, size, colour, texture and buoyancy and solubility of the bait - all to very great effect (the first fish came while setting up!)

In scanning so many fishing forums it is very obvious that the average angler knows about as much about bait design and how baits impact water and fish as they in all likelihood do about the physiological internal impacts of nicotine on the human brain and nervous system. You might think many more anglers would know details about this because so many anglers have been conditioned by direct and indirect subliminal messages in films, soaps, adverts, movies etc to smoke because it is supposed to be cool. But nicotine is the most addictive substance to humans - even beyond new generations of crack cocaine and the like.

You might also think that a gigantic proportion of the angling fraternity would have the vision to realise that the average angler is not actually giving fish bait in order to feed them, but to maximise numbers of bites achieved by making baits irresistible whenever fish sense their presence in their environment. It seems many bait-makers think that feeding fish is more important than catching them!

So many anglers think that fishing baits like boilies cannot be addictive - why is this?! Just how many anglers using fishing forums are neuroscientists with experience in fish not just humans?! Just because a fish does not jump into your landing net straight after you cast out simply means the fish are aiming not to be supper for a predator they have come to associate with familiar food items and no wonder bait is of any use if you fish ineffectively without the thought that carp truly deserve!

Did you know that the impacts on our bodies and minds of the pheromones from a summer walk through an average deciduous wood in the southern counties have ultimately the same internal effect on health and vitality as half the pharmaceutical drugs on the market? This is not me saying this; just one of the leading scientific minds taking part in the TED conference recently; remember that very many drugs originally are inspired by plant substances right (think of good old Aspirin for example!) Unfortunately people are getting gradually out of touch with science in general through not keeping up their education as science moves on so very fast. The area of genetic manipulation of foods such as wheat and soya should really be of interest to anglers as well as the increasing growing of plants for fuel - many of these are great in carp baits as very effective cheap energy sources in baits.

The fact is that 100 years ago we could sit at home and most of us would have understood how most of the things that surrounded us worked - and even how it was designed. The art of DIY repairs and modifications to home appliances etc thrived. Even I as a kid took apart record players and later cassette players to adjust them internally. But today with the rise and rise of so much more advanced technology a growing number of people do not have a clue how most of the things that surround them work. They do not value insights into how they were originally conceived, developed and refined to reach the finished designs that are frequently made by dirt cheap labour forces in Asia and elsewhere and bought by western consumers less and less from the high street chains and more and more via the world-wide-web. All this change relates to fishing baits too because food has to be caught, sown, harvested or extracted right! Even genuine vanilla which is the most commonly used flavour in the world is commercially-available due to someone hand-pollinating these orchid plants.

Years ago it would have been simple enough for a beginner to put on a piece of bread paste, or dig up a worm and use that. But these days an instant carp angler can expect to be bombarded with all kinds of ever more technologically exotic bait names that blind them with science and further induce new generations to give up on figuring out how their baits work and just use them to maximum effect even! Over the past 5 years full-time my aim has been to de-mystify carp, catfish, barbel and other baits; hence my present bait ebooks written to help you catch more fish!

Important relationships between bait substances soon become apparent with enough research. For example between different forms of betaine and amino acids, and between Talin and flavour components for example, or between salts, sugars and milk components and beneficial microoganisms and so on. This information and much more can all improve your catches most especially in tough times - and against better more experienced anglers. I only know this because so many of my readers use this information in their own creative ways and achieve this.

The fact remains that with the knowledge of what baits contain and why you can very seriously improve your catch results consistently - for life (note that knowledge is for life!) It is just the same as the difference between playing the guitar hero game and dreaming of being a rock God - and being a dreamer all your life. The irony is that my guitar teacher was a professional session player with big-name record companies 16 years and even played the odd stadium and other big venue gigs, yet he explained to me that he is no good at all when playing guitar hero! The power of getting direct knowledge from someone who has been there bought the T-shirt and done it is invaluable as with any teacher in any endeavour. If you made the effort to buy a well chosen guitar, take regular lessons from a well chosen tutor and developed your unique skills, then one day you really could become a rock God - whether in the local clubs or with rather larger audiences of TV or the web etc. Ultimately it takes commitment to get extremely good at anything and instant success by simply buying the latest wonder readymade bait is no guarantee of success for years to come - that comes with self-education and experience!

I got to sing with a guitar player who was a session player with Deep Purple and other iconic bands in the Seventies. He told me his personal commitment meant he never spent any time with his family - but he reached the top. Terry Hearn apparently made the commitment to reach the top in fishing and thus avoided having girlfriends. Well make of that what you will it is the commitment that matters and the fact that the best educate themselves much better than most due to their commitment to their goals and dreams!

This last century has really been about the big companies taking power away from the individual - by offering freedom from effort by making things so much faster and easier by offering their products and in effect making people dependent upon them. Ultimately all this leads to the masses becoming so de-skilled that they become totally dependent on suppliers of new products rather than finding alternative new solutions for themselves. Companies love this because getting consumers hooked on their products maximises profits. Dependency builds brand-loyalty in buyers minds and this is an extremely powerful psychological lever companies exploit to maximum effect to gain market share - hence all those bait-sponsored anglers wearing branded caps, T-shirts and hooded tops etc.

Historically I have personally never been one to buy clothes with brand names splashed all over them - why should I when I do not get paid for advertising premium priced products?! Of course I buy quality branded clothes but I go for ones with the label inside or where the quality, design and durability shines instead of a gaudy brand name. I do consider something is wrong if people are using branded clothes to express a message to other people because it is about as superficial as it gets. In the States in the past the coloured proportion of the population actually totalled 60 of the money spent on cars each year because this was their way of expressing their freedom from slavery in effect - and the same goes for branded clothes, branded bling etc!

I did a few personal jobs for an English coloured millionaire who drove around in a new Bentley with a registration plate saying The Player - if this is not a superficial expression of freedom from slavery I do not know what is! My point is that you can do things for yourself without crutches of brands - because originally brands are designed by individuals maybe starting out working on their kitchen table - just like the vast majority of big-name commercial bait makers did. When Kevin Nash got in the news with his old Essex record fish he did not have Nash emblazoned in red across his jacket - and so it goes for the majority of well-known bait and tackle names too! In the days when I fished with Cliff Fox he did not have Fox splashed all over his brolly or rods and other gear, clothing etc even when we knew he was on the rise when he arrived at the lake driving his new Porsche (a statement of ego in an age of speed cameras if you ever saw one - personally I would go for an Aston Martin DB7 convertible!)

If you have a mindset that demands you have the latest gadget and the latest branded this and that you might consider what on earth it is all for - and the possibility that you can do just as good if not better making or adapting your own baits. The fact is that anyone can with the right information and a degree of practice as with most things can equal or better the leading brands because most are sensitive to profits even more in the current economic climate and will not include the levels of potent substances we have the choice to include when adapting our readymade base mixes or making our own homemade bait mixes etc! The fact is that the majority of carp anglers buy bait for reasons completely un-associated with how they actually perform and price plays an important part in this but at home we can seriously rev-up our baits in ways that commercial bait makers are just not doing; and when you do this you need less bait to be successful!

In terms of foods however things get far more insidious far beyond mind-conditioning and brand loyalty in the bait and tackle trades. For instance the UK food industry is so corrupt it sells substances that cannot be correctly termed as food! A massive proportion of foods sold in the UK actually take more energy to either digest (or to detoxify or burn out of your system) than deliver as a result of consuming it. Do you know just how much sugar you are consuming every week of your life hidden in al kinds of foods, altering your taste buds and cells at the genetic level and altering your body long-term? Did you know that over time excessive refined sugar intake reduces intelligence? Never before in the history of humankind has so much sugar been in the diet.

Test yourself; see how much sugar is in each item of food you normally buy each week and you will be shocked. Most people do not even realise how much sugar is in beer or even in many breads. Excess sugar in the body gets converted into stored energy in the body as seen externally as cellulite and fat. But internally the hidden damage is far more insidious because excessive fat can mess up your body in many ways leading to diabetes, lining vital organs with fat, giving you mental problems form sugar-related highs and lows and many more much more damaging impacts that you will usually hear nothing about in general conversation. You might think that just because you are not fat now being young and fit you are OK but if you keep the same intake going as your metabolism slows as you get older it will certainly affect you in many potentially serious ways long-term!

Carp as it happens are in effect diabetic and deal with sugars in similar but different ways to humans. You could say that they get extremely sensitive to sugars in baits. Using sugars in baits is an edge used for centuries but many sugars are not necessarily feeding triggers as such but they certainly give carp an instant energy boost, enhance other baits substance palatabilities and flavours and even provide food for the beneficial micro organisms in the guts of carp that are essential for optimal digestion. In fact the amylase that breaks down carbohydrates is introduced into the intestinal tract of carp as soon as it begins pretty much so it has maximum time in which to be digested and assimilated.

Tiger nuts and sweetcorn for instance are rich in sugars that give carp an instant energy hit and while tiger nuts are thermogenic and rich in the most essential amino acid lysine, sweetcorn is rich in the feeding trigger betaine. (See more about all this and much more in my Baitbigfish ebooks.) The minimum daily requirement of brood carp is for 40 percent of carbohydrate in the diet, but added to the excessive levels of oils used in halibut pellets etc designed for fish with far higher metabolisms and energy demands, carp are getting unhealthily fat with enlarged livers all over UK and Europe where such baits are used by anglers by the tonne each season.

It is official today that 60 percent of all people entering hospital in the UK are clinically obese; I guess this is all the patients fault right? Actually it is all done by gradual conditioning over time - modern life styles have simply become so lazy and money-centered; knowledge of real nutrition for health and vitality instead of food products for pleasure have been suppressed or skewed by big business. I cannot fathom why it is so brilliant to consume milk as adults when not one single other mammal feeds milk to adults - does this tell you something about milk?! Most people are slightly or much more than slightly lactose intolerant (even hyper-sensitive and allergic) but spend their lives not even realising this because milk is added to so many products - because elements of it are addictive!

And how else can you explain an example like this: in many cases where crisps are now sold in low fat versions, a quick look at the ingredients list will show the addition of dextrose - a very highly addictive form of sugar that happens to also put fat on you! So many sugars in various forms are very effective in carp baits for example going right back to good old honey - a substance still not fully understood by modern science (modern science does not yet know how flower nectar is converted into the sugars in honey for instance.) Modern science has so much to learn and we have so many more bait secrets and new as yet unexploited bait substances to uncover. Sometimes bait substances work despite a very great degree of lack of proven scientific information on why this is!

The fact is that people are exercising far less than any time in our history and eating many times more carbohydrates in the forms of high glycaemic index foods and sugars. Although we have been informed about eating high-fat foods the fat and oils issue is merely part of a much bigger picture and in fact very many oils are very good for your health including good old sunflower oil, and real butter in moderation - as opposed to the fake toxic hydrogenated rubbish! How many kids are obese today who do not eat high fat diets (but eat too many carbohydrates and sugars?!)

I must laugh at all the adverts splashed across the web right now in regards to Acai as the new wonder fat-burner. The fact is that instead of wasting bundles of money of this over-hyped bubble why not cut your carbohydrate (and sugar) intake drastically and get some exercise because this will have exactly the same effect as taking Acai - except it is free. The fact is that the vast majority of pictures of people pictured in those macho toned muscled examples in regards to Acai berry products are people who were muscled and toned previously anyway.

Anyone who is experienced in the field of body-building, musculature, body toning and body metabolism manipulation and balancing can see that nearly all these guys pictured have been doing weights for very significant periods prior to putting a layer of fat over the top mostly as a result of poor diet. Anyone who wants to get toned can do it with exercise and a book on healthy balanced nutritional food! If you take a probiotic supplement and an Aloe Vera intestinal cleanser for example you will actually absorb far more essential nutrients from your food than before - and thus need to eat less food and spend less on it; and that sounds like effort in reading this worth spending right?!

If you find you spend hours in front of a TV or computer screen and dream of getting a ripped body - remember it all starts in your mind! If you really want to do this get a picture of what you want to look like and put it wherever you will see it all the time. You will soon by subconscious re-programming find information within your reach and even begin exercising without using any weights and immediately notice an improvement in your vitality and energy levels. In fact this plus stretching is an excellent safe way to begin but do get a doctor check-up and go down to your local gym, get a personal coach and look up a qualified nutritionist who will give your body an holistic assessment and advise you on how to re-adjust your diet - for your unique body.

Please note that diets are in general total bull excrement simply because every single person has a unique metabolism and body chemistry etc that demands foods in levels and ratios that other people may not need or may even find harmful! In this regard you might think that nutritional de-hulled hemp seed bars or hemp oil would be a good thing but not in every case!

For example you would not recommend someone with celiac disease to eat wheat products containing wheat gluten - yet a massive proportion of foods in the average super market contain wheat for no other reason than it is a very profitable filler and thickener (with very little food value other than as a carbohydrate source) - plus wheat gluten is addictive.

Wheat gluten is an effective bait ingredient even though far more focus has been put on bait digestibility in recent years. A friend of mine who used to formulate carp and catfish pellets in the States based his pellets on various protein-rich forms of glutens. Today a very serious protein source in aquaculture is maize gluten protein and you can get this from the unique Formula-Carp bait section of Willisworms (online.)

Most of us already know to whatever degree that proteins in carp and catfish baits etc are a positive thing in terms of bait success but did you know that amino acids as in proteins are addictive? By definition they are addictive simply because life cannot exist without them!

In North Korea when the last famine hit, thousands of school children died from malnutrition - they just withered away over the months from various deficiencies including those as a result of lack of essential amino acids. In such a hard-line communist country where forgetting to even dust the pictures of the leaders framed on your living room wall is a crime, such things as enough food come low down the list of priorities; communism at its very best - yet again (corruption from the top as usual!)

One ingredient sure to make your fish take notice of in your baits is soluble keramine protein. Its (free) soluble amino acid profile is tremendous. It is an excellent edge and you can use it as powder or use it to make unique liquid foods just as you might by using pure betaine of soluble fish protein products etc.

Keramine is outstanding for big carp and giant catfish but why not source some squid liver oil perhaps and mix it with high PC liquid lecithins for a spring bait this year alongside keratine?! Again visit the Willisworms Formula-Carp bait section to get hold of keramine and keramine meat extract and so on (very few bait companies sell it!)
